Approximately 1344 mL over 24 hours using an isotonic glucose-containing solution.
- Use isotonic fluid with glucose; hypotonic maintenance fluid causes hyponatraemia.
- Reduce for oedema, cardiac or renal disease, or SIADH; add deficit and ongoing losses separately.
Formula
4 mL/kg/h for the first 10 kg + 2 mL/kg/h for the next 10 kg + 1 mL/kg/h thereafter
